On 12 March 2026, MarLEN and the Waterborne Technology Platform brought together 48 stakeholders from across Europe for the inaugural Joint Mobilisation and Mutual Learning Workshop, dedicated to Inland Waterway Transport Innovation. As the first in a series of six events aligned with the ZEWT Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, the session established the foundation for structured engagement across the inland waterways sector.
Programme highlights:
- An opening session introduced the MarLEN project and outlined the objectives of the ZEWT initiative, setting the overall context and goals of the workshop
- A best practices session featured three case studies from relevant research and initiatives, illustrating concrete approaches to zero-emission inland waterway transport and stimulating participant engagement
- A co-creation session invited participants to collaboratively identify key challenges and develop actionable recommendations addressing the policy, financial, technological, and social dimensions of the zero-emission transition
