1st Joint Mobilisation and Mutual Learning Workshop on Inland Waterway Transport Innovation

The MarLEN Project and the Waterborne Technology Platform are pleased to invite stakeholders to the upcoming Joint Mobilisation and Mutual Learning (MML) Workshop, part of a series of six events organised in alignment with the ZEWT Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Each workshop explores one of the six ZEWT implementation pathways for different ship types, including inland waterway transport, short sea shipping, ferries, cruise, intercontinental, and offshore vessels.

This forthcoming session will focus on Inland Waterway Transport Innovation, creating a platform for dialogue and collaboration among experts committed to advancing Europe’s transition toward zero-emission waterborne transport.

Each MML Workshop is structured around three interconnected sessions designed to foster both knowledge sharing and practical collaboration.

The event will begin with an introductory segment presenting the MarLEN Project, outlining the objectives of the ZEWT initiative, and setting the overall context and goals of the workshop. This will be followed by a session dedicated to best practices and insights, featuring three case studies and findings from relevant research and initiatives that will help frame the discussion and stimulate participant engagement. The final part of the workshop will take the form of a co-creation session, where stakeholders will work together to identify key challenges and explore potential solutions. Through this collaborative exchange, participants will develop actionable recommendations addressing the policy, financial, technological, and social dimensions of the transition towards zero-emission waterborne transport.
